Layla is a Life Sciences student at Queen’s University who loves listening to many genres of music. She is always looking for opportunities to be involved in the community and is excited to contribute to the TD Newmarket Music Festival this year as a Volunteer Coordinator.

Hi music lovers @ Newmarket,
This is Chris Zhan, a passionate Jazz lover. I am very excited to be one of the General Manager Assistants this year. Meanwhile, I am also an aspiring business consultant and an undergraduate student at Schulich School of Business looking forward to helping local businesses thrive.

Christina Di Paola – Creative Zone Coordinator

Christina DiPaola a new Creative Zone Intern for TD-NMF. She loves listening to good music and has an eclectic collection of over 200 CDs and growing. Christina has her BA in Visual Arts from University of Waterloo and a post-grad certification in Arts Management from Centennial College. This mixed media artist enjoys spending too much time online, watching movies, checking out art galleries and playing with dogs.

Laurel Astridge – Social Media Coordinator

Laurel Astridge is a Toronto lifestyle blogger, music teacher, and social media specialist with a passion for creativity and a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from Western University. She is passionate about social media, performing arts, writing, and public speaking. TD-NMF is happy to have Laurel on the Social Media Team this year assisting us with our Instagram daily posts and SM brainstorming!

Robert Lee – Entertainment Management

Hello! My name is Robert Lee. I am a graduate of the University of Guelph Music Program and a current student of Humber College’s Bachelor of Music program. My main instrument is the upright bass but I also play guitar, ukulele, and piano. Student of music from age of 6 (violin). I am looking forward to working with the Newmarket Music Festival this year on the Entertainment Management Team and to share my love and passion for jazz music!

AnneMarie Lourenco – Festivals Costume Coordinator

Annemarie Lourenco is an actress, writer and comedian who loves to dress up and perform, especially when others join in the fun. Happy to be back as the festivals costume coordinator this year with a bunch of special guests.:) Character Corner run by AnneMarie will provide us with Alice In Wonderland Characters (Red/White Queens, White Rabbit, Mad Hatter, Cards, Cheshire Cat…) and Super Heroes – Batman, Superman, Spiderman, Wonder Woman and Cookie Monster/Elmo/Minions and more!

Vicki Lee – Entertainment Management and Creative Zone

Vicki Lee has just graduated from York University studying jazz vocal performance, also plays piano and drums. Vicki performs at events, clubs, and restaurants, aspiring to establish herself as a pop & jazz artist. Joining the NMF, she is excited to assist coordination of both Entertainment Management and Creative Zone! Sing with her as “Vicki & Kids Sing Disney Songs” in Wonderland this year!

Shirley Wu – Finance Team

Shirley is a recent grad of University of Toronto with passion in finance and technology. It is her first year at the festival. She enjoys working with talented and friendly people. She is on festival finance team and assisting the volunteer coordinators with recruitment and management. “I’m so happy to meet people from all walks of life.” She said.

Hariharan Devadas – Creative Zone

Hariharan Devadas is going into his second year in Life Sciences (Origins of Disease) at McMaster University and has volunteered with the Newmarket Jazz Festival in the previous years. He is planning to pursue a professional career in medicine. Hari plays and guitar. He is currently also involved with music production, mixing and Djing (HipHop/EDM- favourite genres! This year Hariharan is taking on lead overseeing and management of all activities inside the Creative Zone.

Andrea Compton – Visual Arts Coordinator

Andrea Compton is a recent graduate from the Studio Art program at the University of Guelph, with a minor in Art History. She loves seeking involvement within the community, and collaborating with like-minded individuals to create wonderful, exciting events for all to experience! One day, she hopes to work for a gallery or museum within the fundraising and community outreach sector. Andrea is thrilled and honoured to be working with the Newmarket Music Festival 2017 Visual Arats Team, creating a fun, interactive artistic atmosphere for patrons to enjoy

Queenie Zeng – Vendor Manager Assistant and Visual Arts

Queenie is a dynamic visual artist and a scientific algorithm enthusiast. She majors in Biology and Mathematics in McMaster University, and is also experienced in coordinating various events. She is Assistant Vendor Manager and Assisting in The Visual Arts area for the 2017 Newmarket Music Festival 2017.

Vicki Go – Creative Zone Coordinator

Newmarket resident, Vicki Go, a 2nd year Bachelor of Music and Concurrent Education at Queen’s University, is a former volunteer of the festival (2014). Vicki plays piano, guitar, percussion, flute and sings! She recently completed her first year placement at Newmarket, Country Garden Montessori Academy, teaching and assisting kids ages 11 to 14. Vicki is delighted to serve as the 2017 TD-NMF Creative Zone Coordinator to hone leadership skills and give back to her community.

Ashish Patel – Creative Zone Coordinator

My name is Ashish Patel I am a Humber College Student Enrolled in Global Business management program – 4th semester. I am an Accounting Intern at TD-Newmarket Music festival and I hope to build successful career in Financial and banking sector. I am Glad to be part of TD-Newmarket Music Festival and it is great learning experience for me with all creative interns.

Will Powell

Will is a graduate from the political science program at the University of Guelph, and a recent graduate from Humber College’s post graduate advertising and copywriting program. Born and raised in Etobicoke and new to Newmarket, this is his first year working with the Newmarket Music Festival. His objective is to use his advertising and writing skills to help the festival grow and achieve all its goals

My name is Charissa and I love being surrounded by great music! Helping artists find new ways to get their music to fans is my passion and I really look forward to being a part of this festival!!

Kyle Smith

Kyle is a graduate of Marketing from Seneca College and is currently pursuing his undergraduate in Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Ontario expected to graduate in 2018. Being that he is a generation Y prodigy he has used the internet to sculpt himself into being all that he can be by teaching himself how to snowboard, grill foods, fishing and some french. Being apart of the team for the NMF festival, it has increased his brain power working in teams across the internet and has allowed to expand his depth of learning in the Marketing world.

Shiqi Wang – Stage and Sound Assistant

SHIQI is a person who is passionate about theatre. She has great experience working in theatre and outdoor events. This is SHIQI’s first year working at the Newmarket Music Festival and she is extremely excited and honored to work as one of the stage and sound managers.

Christian Bulza – Sponsorship

Christian is currently a fourth year finance student, studying at Western University with career aspirations to work in venture capital. He is a seasoned, involved student who has been apart of many student-run organizations at executive levels. Christian hopes to bring his professional and extracurricular experiences to help the Newmarket Music Festival reach new heights with it’s sponsorship!

Hayley Howitt

Hayley is an audio engineer from the west coast looking for new life in the GTA. Anything from stage tech, studio production, instruments and music theory, it’s clear she’s passionate about the art of sound. With background in the festival life out west, Hayley is thrilled to be apart of her first music festival in Ontario.

Post Graduate student in Humber College having experience of working in marketing department for companies like Intel, Marlboro and Vodafone really excited to be part of the Newmarket Music Festival as an intern and is looking forward to have fun and contribute their best towards the success of the festival.

Jessica Sherk

Jessica is going into her 4th year at Ryerson, studying Social Work. She is very active in her community – she was this year’s volunteer coordinator at York Pride Fest, a long term volunteer at the Nanny Angel Network which offers respite care to mothers with cancer in the GTA and she also enjoys supporting children with disabilities. She is currently doing a summer student position at Kerry’s Place Autism Services as an autism support assistant. Jessica is looking forward to the 2017 TD-NMF and has enjoyed working with the team. She loves all genres of music and is thrilled to be supporting such a wonderful event!

Richard Felty – Customer Relations

My name is Richard! I’m a 17 year old going into my senior year of high school. I’m currently taking every chance I can to learn and take in as much knowledge as much as I can which is why I’m very happy to be a part of this team! I love to learn and love talking to people, if you see me at the festival don’t mind saying hello! I’ll be handling customer relations so I’ll be very happy to answer any questions any of you may have!

Lily Fostikova – Intern Manager

Lily is a University of Toronto graduate in the field of Arts Management. She is very passionate about all forms of arts and is excited to be a part of such a great display of various musical genres as well as visual art and performance presented at this years Newmarket Music Festival! She is also very passionate about Administrative work. With that Lily is leading this year’s group of 30 interns involved with the festival.
